I nearly missed...
posting for March but I made it just in the nick of time!
I'm experiencing my own version of "March Madness" which has nothing to do with basketball.
March has been a rough month. The roughest patch was discovering I almost lost my Africa trip.
Fortunately, like this post, it was saved just in the nick of time. So I'm still on track for Africa in
August.
PREPARATION
Travel to Africa requires more extensive preparation than just taking a trip within the U.S. I had to
make sure my passport was current and my insurance would still be valid overseas. You also have
to take in weather considerations. I'll be traveling in August during the U.S. summer hot temperatures.
In contrast, South Africa's coldest days are in July-August so my trip could be ruined if I packed based
on my home weather temperatures. I also have to consider the flight duration. My flight will take about
15 hours! That's a long time to be sitting on a plane so I'll have to research and prepare.
This is an intimidating undertaking however, the prospect of fulfilling my dream of visiting Africa keeps
me motivated. 
5 months and counting.

well I've traveled a LOT so i can tell you that there's really not much to research and prepare for a long flight. I've moved from the U.S. to Japan and that was about a 20 hour flight. Just bring a tooth brush, snacks, books and/or iPod, and whatever else that might keep you busy. But you'll probably end up sleeping most of the time anyway. Just don't go to sleep the night before you leave :)
orrrrrr you can spend the flight working on ascend...?? that's always good :D

Thank you, I'm glad you're enjoying the story. Ascend still
has a long way to go. It's proving very challenging to pull
everything together in one final story but it's fun working
